360° video is not VR! You cannot interact, merely change you viewing angle and you are taken by the director on his ride.
But 360° video nevertheless can be a compelling add-on to an VR-experience.
For our ongoing project for Schauspiel Dortmund, we recorded 360° and 180° video to integrate it into an VR-installation.
And 360° video is of course the medium of choice to render interactive VR to experience it on Google cardboard or GearVR.
